David entertains Captains of industry at 13th annual Belfast Telegraph Business Awards
Sarah Weir, Events Consultant at JPR said of the event; “JPR has been working with and organising the Belfast Telegraph’s suite of Awards for over ten years. The annual Belfast Telegraph Business Awards is one of the most highly anticipated award ceremonies in the industry’s calendar, so it was very exciting for us to be able to bring David on board.”
Captains of industry, SMEs, global brand leaders, entrepreneurs, members of the media and many more were in the audience at the Culloden Hotel to celebrate the 13th annual Belfast Telegraph Business Awards in association with British Airways.
Wendy Austin was in charge of proceedings and before the event got under way, mentalist David Meade had everyone gobsmacked with his mind-bending antics.
Speaking about JPR’s collaboration with David Meade – Sarah mentioned; “JPR has worked very closely with David for over five years now on countless events for our most important clients. This year we wanted to break the mould for the awards and really give the audience something to remember. At JPR, we came up with an incredibly unique idea – to tailor David’s entire act around the title sponsor of the Business Awards, British Airways and our client The Belfast Telegraph. We worked closely with David over many months on the creative design and logistics of making the stunt work, including spending a full day filming in Terminal 5 at Heathrow airport – the home of British Airways, and the results were outstanding.”
Sarah went on went on to comment; “Our clients were blown away – not only was the finished product incredibly entertaining and mindblowing, but David also took our brief to the letter and used his act to showcase our title sponsors impeccably. David’s act seamlessly linked our clients products and services into the event, showcasing them in an incredibly fun and imaginative way, and it was exceptional. The reaction and atmosphere in the room was outstanding, and so rewarding to see our idea come to life.”
However, not even David was able to divulge who had won what before the ceremony and Howard Hastings OBE was equally shocked when he was presented with an honorary award for his contribution to tourism.
It was refreshing to feel so much optimism in the room with particular emphasis on how well businesses in Northern Ireland have been coping during some of the toughest economic times they have faced in recent years.
The judges were particularly interested in finding out how firms have survived these turbulent times and the big winners on the night were IT company Novosco, winning overall Business of the Year, and Brian Conlon of First Derivatives PLC who was Businessperson of the Year. There was an extra prize as Alex Todd from NSC Insurance won a trip to Hong Kong courtesy of British Airways.
Speaking after the event, David said “I’m so delighted that JPR had decided to invite me to work with them again on one of their most important contracts. I’ve worked with the JPR team for so long now, it really does feel like a team effort. It’s been so much fun working with Sarah to pull off something really unique, specially tailored for the client. Sarah’s idea was ambitious, and I’m so proud that we were able to pull it off.”
