Ian Studd, Director General of British Association of Removers said of the Mentalist; “David gave a wonderful presentation at our recent conference in Belfast. The content, coupled with his thoroughly engaging style was inspirational and really caught the attention of everyone present.”
The industry is still buzzing after the success of the Association’s flagship Annual Conference held in Belfast, the FIRST time the event had ever taken place in Northern Ireland – and apparently it’ll not be the last! The sell-out conference coincided with a bank holiday weekend, but nevertheless, attendance was at an all time high, with both local and international guests travelling from further afield.
The BAR Northern Ireland Area lent its full support to the BAR in putting together an enjoyable and diverse programme of speakers, events and social activities. Local celebrities such as David Meade gave some memorable talks and fully lived up to Northern Ireland’s reputation for articulate, intelligent and witty speakers.
David bravely took on the ‘graveyard’ slot of the programme – the very last session at the end of a long day, and managed to both energise and stimulate BAR delegates so they were left positively buzzing when his keynote talk was over.
Stephen Vickers, Director General of British Association of Removers said of David; “I would like to thank David on behalf of the President, BAR Board and all of the delegates for presenting the Keynote Speech at this year’s conference; we have had overwhelming praise, and not an insignificant amount of head scratching regarding his contribution.”
David, former lecturer in International Business at the University of Ulster, had clearly thought about the specific challenges of the removals industry, managing staff and customer expectations and he geared his presentation towards addressing some of the real issues that many face on a day-to-day basis.
He did this mostly by interacting with the audience, getting delegates to work together, and what was particularly fascinating, was his ability to get into the minds of, and predict the thoughts and actions of individual members of the audience.
Campbell McGimpsey, Director of McGimpsey Brothers Removals and a member of the BAR NI Area said of David’s contribution to the event; “The conference turned out to be an overwhelming success and one of the best conferences ever. I felt David’s Keynote was brilliant, the best we have ever had at a conference. He got it just right in terms of the humour/business ratio, in that everyone thoroughly enjoyed it but also took a lot from it in terms of a business perspective.”
Campbell went on to add; “I think as a team we all sold Northern Ireland extremely well and I feel we have created a lot of future potential visitors. So, all in all, together we have proved that Northern Ireland is definitely the place to come (and that David Meade is definitely the best mentalist in the world!).”
It is safe to say – the conference certainly fulfilled its promise to be a great event with the offering of some spectacular activities, great speakers and was finished off with a Gala Dinner in the world famous Titanic centre. Belfast looks forward to inviting back the BAR Annual Conference in the future!
