Last month The Virtual Delegate, David Meade’s six-part digital event series, powered by ICC Belfast, picked up an Innovation Award at the annual Association of British Professional Conference Organisers (ABPCO) Excellence Awards.
The Virtual Delegate was created at a time when the potential for networking and meaningful interaction was severely compromised, yet the need for the business-events industry to come together and respond to the universal challenges they were facing had never been higher.
In each episode David explored how organisations could maximise virtual, hybrid and in-person events to engage their people and clients with the aim of looking to the future with ambition and energy.
Over 3,000 viewers tuned in for the series on LinkedIn which saw David meet with world-class thought leaders as well as the faces behind some of the best-known brands in events to discover how organisations can move their next virtual or hybrid event from good to great.
Explaining the concept behind The Virtual Delegate David said: “For me events will always be better in person, but their impact, reach, ROI, and legacy can be sky rocketed with a meaningful and thoughtful virtual or hybrid strategy. One thing is for sure though, hybrid and virtual events are here to stay and with virtual events set to grow nearly ten-fold over the next decade from $78 billion to $774 billion dollars it makes sense to invest now.
“By using the right technology for the audience a virtual event can have every bit as much impact as an in-person meeting. With The Virtual Delegate we wanted to show how effective online interviewing and panel discussions can be when it comes to inspiring an audience.”
Commenting on the ABPCO award win David said: “It’s an honour to be recognised for The Virtual Delegate series and our collaboration with the great team at ICC Belfast.
“This live broadcast model is extremely effective and serves so well as an interactive and revolutionary communication tool.
“This model works so well to help clients maintain a competitive advantage, serve global audiences, enhance relationships, and build brand new ones. It truly is an innovative solution, that we love to help our clients create.”
Expressing her delight at receiving the ABPCO award Julia Corkey, Chief Executive at ICC Belfast, Waterfront Hall and Ulster Hall said: “As a team we pride ourselves on adopting a unique, solutions focused approach to challenges so to receive recognition from ABPCO as the UK’s leading Professional body for Association Conference & Not-for-profit Event Organisation in respect of our innovative approach is a fantastic achievement.
“Business preparedness has been at the forefront of ICC Belfast’s activity throughout 2021.
